Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret group.
The mission centers on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The trailer features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana together with multiple objects concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally featured a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
